It was their turn to go out and look for food. She was dressed warmly, the boots that fit snuggling up around her knees were comfortable and fuzzy on the inside. She pulled on the fur lined parka and fastened it up, looking forward to some time outside, even if she knew he was going to be pretty damned paranoid. Maybe they could have a little fun and just relax. At least that was what she hoped.

Heading downstairs she grabbed a bottle of water and sipped it, grabbing a little of whatever was prepared this morning. More thank likely made Logan, Snake or Hannibal. They'd taken over the cooking duties primarily. Which suited her just fine because her cooking skills were pretty damned limited.

Abby glanced over at Snake as she gathered her hair back and tied it so she could pull the hood on when they went out. "You ready babe?"

The scents and sounds that hung around the perimeter couldn't be mistaken. Logan stood outside the house, their sanctuary, looking out into the infinite white. The snow had stopped, but it blanketed the ground in heavy sheets. A cigar hung from his lips. Death hung around them, the smells of it were everywhere. Without the blizzard beating down the vampires didn't travel out in the open where they could be seen easily. Seemed the were a little scared after the last confrontation with their little group.

All Logan could do was wonder when the sun was going to rise. Or when they were going to be pulled out of this place. The rickety porch he stood on could barely hold his weight. A slow stream of smoke departed through his nearly closed lips.

boredom was quickly becoming a constant companion in this blisteringly cold weather. Logan enjoyed it though, reminded him of the Canadian mountains, the closest thing to home he'd ever had. He walked back inside the house, keeping his footfalls quite in case anyone was asleep. He knew Selene more than likely wasn't sleeping at all. When he found her it was no surprise she was fiddling with one of her weapons.

"Wanna go for a walk?"

Logan needed to get out for a little bit, but for once, didn't want to go alone and hell, there was no one else he wanted to be around more than her. Made sense. So he flashed her that lopsided smile of his and tilted his head.

Dreaming...Collapse )

Sam awoke with a start, sitting upright in a makeshift bed of blankets. He was sweating and panting, his breath cooling on the air to become small clouds of fog...moving away into the semi-darkness of the room around him. It was cold, very cold and he'd gotten used to that, he'd even gotten used to having nightmares frequently but what he still hadn't was lurking somewhere as he gazed through a small hole in the wall at the white world outside. There had been people once, just enough so that he was comfortable in their presence, but they had all been killed, or at least that's as far as he could guess. Something otherworldy had come to the town and they had set upon all those that breathed when the Sun had faded down into the horizon.

Whatever precognitive ability he posessed it had saved him, showing him graphic scenes of violence and terror, unholy cries upon the air so vivid that he had tried to warn people but to no avail. Hiding in time, Sam witnessed the numbers of people dwindle to a handful in but one night, his more than eidetic memory imprinting the screams and faces into his consciousness until who knows when.

It was still outside. Sam crawled a few metres and opened up a hatch, levering himself down through it to drop softly onto the ground floor of the one tier building he'd holed up in. Creeping along quietly he approached the battered opening where the front door used to be and looked out cautiously. When all seemed clear he slung the backpack over his shoulder which had been placed to one side and stepped out into the cold air.

He needed more food but he didn't want to become it. Popping nextdoor to the nearest building a few days ago had nearly proved fatal, yet this time he was going to go a little further. Moving as quickly and quietly as possible he approached a slightly larger, empty-looking building he hadn't tried yet and cautiously pressed his palm to the wall. He jerked back as roars and screams filled his senses, almost forcing him to turn back but hunger and the will to survive drove him on and he pressed his hand down once more. It continued from where it had left off, knowledge and emotion coming to him as if downloading a computer file until finally he pulled his hand away. There were no recent 'imprints' on this building, only those from when the madness had begun, but since then, nothing. It was empty and he could fill his backpack with supplies. He entered through the door and a hallway light immediately flickered on, dim in reality but seemingly like a lighthouse beacon in the dark town.

"Fuck", he'd been too pre-occupied with horiffic events in the house he'd forgotten to even check basic things...like a goddamn sensor.

"Better move quick Sammy..."

Selina had been a bit bored as of lately. There was nothing much to do and the more she sat around she wondered about King. What the hell had he done to her back on that island. Apparently he'd found his princess. Finally she caught him alone and grinned. With a grin she plopped down on the couch beside him and grinned.

"Hey. Remember me?"

Todd finished his task and went to look for Abigail. He didn't see her but the other couple was there still cuddling. He didn't know what to make of all the physical contact that was going on around him. He didn't understand and in fact he was afraid of it. Todd was more fearful of watching someone hug than facing the monsters.

He left the others and sat in the kitchen. He didn't move much just looked straight ahead and listened. Uncomfortable didn't even begin to explain what he was feeling.

He'd helped Chloe for a bit, giving Selene some time. He had to go out and hunt for a little bit to get himself under control, sadly the only thing he could find were the rabbits. Wasn't his favorite choice of meat but it'd get everyone through. If they didn't want it he'd eat it, let them have the fish. Quietly he slipped inside the room and sat behind her on the bed. His hand resting on her shoulder.

she needed to be alone, but he couldn't let her be anymore. "I'm sorry I lost it out there today" He should of helped her instead of being a coward. For that he'd never forgive himself. It broke him seeing her like this. What she did was not wrong, it was merciful. She gave them the release they needed, they wouldn't lose their souls to the monsters they would of become.

Logan laid down, curling his body against hers and held her close.

When they'd gotten back Selene and Logan had both taken a look at King and said he should be alright. Ever since he'd gotten the okay to sleep that's what he'd been doing, sleeping as sound as a baby. She'd laid down and slept with him for a few hours. It was the dark, the constant dark that was throwing her off. When she woke up she eased out from under his arm and climbed over the back of the couch.

When she stood up she stretched and started looking around for anything that would resemble a meal for them all. In the middle of her search Logan came through the door, carrying a few rabbits and fish. "Brought dinner.. or whatever meal it's time for. Ice fishing ain't half bad." He gave a toothy grin and started cleaning the meat. Chloe found a few cans of various things. Logan lit the pilot light for her and they worked in silence. She could see there was something weighing heavily on his mind but didn't question him.

"Can you handle cooking this up? It's all set. I need to go check on her." She nodded and smiled at him. "Yeah. I can handle it." she watched him wash up, getting the smell of the fish and blood off of him before heading upstairs. she found some flour and started to fry up the fish, not really sure how to prepare the rabbit meat so she did it as she would steak. As the food cooked she walked over to the couch and leaned over the back of it, just watching him sleep a moment. After a few minutes she leaned down and kissed his lips softly.

The door opened and she had been getting a little worried. The second he walked in she was in front of him, checking him over and then kissing him, her arms tightly around his neck. She wasn't ever going to take him for granted again, that she was going to make sure of.

"C'mon, let's get you upstairs and take care of that leg."
“No, it won’t happen again.” She smirked at him. “Because we will have company from the get go.” Selene reminded him. They would not be alone on this hunting adventure. The time for romance was at an end, for the time being at least.

Only Logan would find her brutality amazing. Only he would look at her as if she had just discovered a cure for cancer when all she had done was kill a few vampires. The affect she had on him was new territory for her. Selene was use to being looked at, that men did make advances, but no one had ever looked at her or touched her as Logan did. With him any distance between them felt like it was just too much. She could feel the electricity that was trying to crackle in the empty spaces between their bodies. His eyes made heat rise to her cheeks in a glow of crimson.

“We should get going. Before the weather picks back up.” This time she did snatch a heavy black parka from the coat rack beside the door. The heavy zipper was pulled up, the fur lined hood hung behind her, the edges of the furry trim tickling the underside of her chin.

Selene’s seductive stare stayed locked on him for only a moment before the blush in her cheeks grew to an uncontrollable red. With a shy smile pulling her lips up she opened the door and slipped around him. Hopefully the chill outside would chase the apparent lust from her face and calm the need building in her stomach. Though this need was unlike the hunger for blood.

The long black curtain of hair swirled around her as the wind from the storm began to lick at her. Looking over her shoulder she glanced back at her hunting partners. “Which way?” Logan’s sense of smell trumped her own, she would be relying on him to find the way.

She watched the three of them leave and stood near the fire for a few moments, watching the flames lick at the air. For a long few moments she did nothing, made no effort to speak with anyone. There was a giant pink elephant in the room and the damn thing wasn't going to go away unless she killed it. Finally she took a deep breath and walked over to her bag, picking it up. Reaching in she grabbed some anti-septic and some bandages then handed them to Chloe.

"Are you comfortable bandaging him up.. or would you rather continue to comfort him?" She kept her tone even and watched how the girl was shaken, tearing up some over him being hurt and simply nodded. "I'll do it. Just keep his head in your lap."

She pulled the table over to the center of the room and started tending to him. It made the moment less awkward. "Todd, can you grab me that bottle of whiskey on the counter? He's gonna need it." She gave King a small smile as she worked. "How you holdin' up down there? If you don't give me one of your classic lewd comments I'm gonna know your concussed." She was only teasing him but her voice was serious. "And then you know what that means.. I get to start poking you with needles."

Gently she dabbed at his head, getting the blood off. "None of you got bit.. right?" She cast a glance from King to Chloe and back.
